LaserSpeed® encoder enables manufacturers to measure the length and speed of products with the highest accuracy to achieve significant savings
Beta LaserMike, a leading global provider of precision measurement and control solutions, will demonstrate its LaserSpeed non-contact measurement system to non-woven and textile product manufactures at TechTextil 2011 (Hall 3.0, booth E-39). This conference is located at the Frankfurt Exhibition Center in Frankfurt, Germany and runs from May 24 to 26.
“Many manufacturers today are still using contact wheel encoders to control the length and speed of non-woven and textile products on the production line,” says Marcel Kloubert, Regional Sales Manager for Germany and Switzerland for Beta LaserMike. “They may also use a contact encoder or pulses off the drive to make these measurements. But, these methods are prone to measurement errors due to slippage, dirt build-up, and day-to-day wear issues. Our LaserSpeed product offers a non-contact measurement approach that is highly accurate.”
The LaserSpeed system uses advanced, laser-based technology to precisely measure the length and speed of product during production without making contact with the moving goods. This laser encoder projects a unique pattern on the surface of the product. As the product moves, light is scattered back to the LaserSpeed unit. This information is translated into product speed and pulses are produced to determine the product length, independent of shape, color, or texture. Length and speed measurements are captured with better than +0.05% accuracy. Beta LaserMike offers a complete line of LaserSpeed systems measure speeds from still standing (zero speed) up to12,000 m/min (39,400 ft/min), standoff distances up to 1000 mm (39.4 in), and measurement depth of field up to 100 mm (3.0 in). Beta LaserMike also offers a European certified length measurement system that meets MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) 2004/22/EG requirements.
