Presentation reveals the importance of accurate, non-contact length and speed measurements in steel mills and continuous casters applications
Monterrey, Mexico – September 12, 2012 – Beta LaserMike, a leading global provider of precision measurement and control solutions, will be delivering a technical presentation to ferrous and non-ferrous metal producers on the latest breakthroughs in non-contact laser measurement technology at the CONAC AIST technical conference in Monterrey, Mexico on Tuesday, October 9 at 4:00 pm (in the Salon Europa). The conference is located at the CINTERMEX center.
The technical paper entitled "Overcoming Mechanical Issues to Getting Accurate, Stable Length and Speed Measurements in Mills and Billet Caster Applications" will be presented by Victor Muniz, Regional Solutions Manager at Beta LaserMike. The paper presentation highlights the importance of capturing accurate length and speed measurements on continuous slab, billet, and bloom casters and the difficulty that’s typically encountered due to a number of mechanical system challenges, such as heat, scale-build up, and the deterioration of mechanical parts. The paper discusses the new generation of cost-efficient, higher accuracy gauges, such as Beta LaserMike’s LaserSpeed gauge, and how it’s being utilized in many continuous caster manufacturing applications today. This advanced measurement technology has the ability to measure these dimensions at very slow speeds with ±0.05% accuracy without contacting the slab or billet.
Beta LaserMike will also be presenting a poster at the conference on Monday, October 8 at 6:30 pm in the poster area. The poster session will be open on Tuesday, Oct 9 from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and Wednesday, Oct 10 from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.
