LaserSpeed encoder measures length and speed of gypsum boards during production with the highest accuracy and without contacting the product
Beta LaserMike, a leading global provider of precision measurement and control solutions, will be giving a technical paper presentation at the upcoming Global Gypsum Conference & Exhibition 2011 entitled “New Non-Contact, Laser-Based Gauge for Measuring Length and Speed of Gypsum Board.” The Global Gypsum Conference will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, from October 17th through the 18th.
The session topic will be presented by Stuart Manser, Western District Manager for Beta LaserMike. (Date and time to be announced. Visit the Global Gypsum Conference and Exhibition website for further details). The presentation will provide a technical overview of non-contact laser measurement and describe its advantages over contact-type methods for gypsum board production applications. Beta LaserMike will also be part of the poster presentations which will be displayed in the foyer area to the exhibition. In addition to the presentations, Beta LaserMike will demonstrate the advantages of its LaserSpeed non-contact encoder over contact-type measurement methods for gypsum board processing in booth # 27.
The LaserSpeed system uses advanced, laser-based technology to precisely measure the length and speed of gypsum board during production without making contact with the product. This laser encoder projects a unique pattern on the surface of the product. As the product moves, light is scattered back to LaserSpeed. This information is translated into product speed and pulses are produced to determine the product length. Length and speed measurements are captured with better than +0.05% accuracy, 0.02% repeatability. Beta LaserMike offers a complete line of LaserSpeed encoders with measurement speeds up to 39,400 ft/min (12,000 m/min), standoff distances to 39.4 in (1000 mm), and measurement depth of field to 3.0 in (100 mm).
